Export Visit to Malmö and Gothenburg (Sweden), 27. May 2013

Foto P1030310 Grosse fur Web

In May 2013 a delegation from Roermond (NL) visited the Swedish cities of Malmö and Gothenburg. During this export visit the Dutch delegation learned about various Good Practices on Mobility Management in a public-private partnership. During the morning of the first day Tina Giannopoulou & Frida Beijer from the City of Malmö gave a presentation about Mobility Management and how they co-oparate with private companies. During the afternoon Elisabet Corengia from the City of Malmö gave a tour through "Vastra Hamnen" (Western Harbour), the first district in Europe that claims to be carbon neutral. One of the measures to accomplish this is a car sharing project that is financed by the project developper. It helps decreasing car ownership in the newly developped areas. On the second day the Dutch delegation learned at the Norconsult office in Gothenburg about the project Mobility Coaching. This project has been up to increase the use of the bicycle on home to work trips among employees of larger companies. Afterwards Christoffer Widegren from CW Logistik gave a presentation and demonstration of "Stadsleveransen", a system of Urban Distribution that has been set up by the City of Göteborg together with local entrepreneurs and distribution companies. In the afternoon Staffan Bolminger from Älvstranden Utveckling AB hosted a presentation about the development of "Älvstranden". Älvstranden is a former port area located north of the city centre. This project is a good example with regard to private companies financing public transport, considering mobility as essential part in the planning process and innovative parking concept for residents. During the export visit at least three Good Practices were identified that can potentially be imported in Roermond.
